Prasārita Padottanāsana (Spread Legs Stretch)

About the Pose

This pose is excellent for stretching your inner thighs and outer edges of your feet. It is challenging to get your head all the way onto the floor but you can get a great spinal stretch from going as far down as you can and touching your head to the top of a block. Doing the pose halfway is an alternative if you’re not inverting.

Pose Benefits

  1. This pose activates and strengthens your inner thigh muscles, enhancing stability, balance, and lower-body endurance.

  2. By strongly engaging your feet, this posture delivers an intense stretch to your outer ankles, increasing their flexibility, which may help to improve balance.
