Taking the shape of a peacock, this pose is a good opportunity to open and strengthen your shoulders. Since your shoulders are weight bearing it’s important that you do the actions to keep your shoulders in joint. This preparatory pose is also a good preparation for developing the alignment and strength needed for Shirshāsana (Headstand pose).
