Ushtrāsana (Camel)

About the Pose

Commonly referred to as the “Camel pose”, it is a challenge for building quadricep strength and stretch at the same time. As you arch your upper back you bring your spine into your body, in a place where it tends to go the other way, especially as you age and spend time on computers. It is heart opening and also good for counteracting tightness in the front of your neck.

Benefits from the Pose

  1. This pose encourages proper spinal alignment with your strong and continual lift of the pit of your abdomen, creating more space in your lower back and avoiding compression.

  2. This posture targets your thigh muscles, building strength, while simultaneously stretching and opening your groin area, enhancing flexibility and supporting a natural, upright posture.
