Upavishtha Konāsana (Wide Angle Seated Forward Bend)

About the Pose

Practicing this pose is similar to doing seated splits. It is a good stretch for your inner thighs and hamstrings. The stretch increases as you come forward- be mindful to only come as far forward as you can without your sacrum poking out the back. Sit upon more height if necessary.

Benefits from the Pose

  1. This pose stretches your inner thigh muscles, helping to release built-up tension and improve flexibility in your groin and hip area.

  2. By promoting gentle movement and increased circulation in your hip joints, this posture may help alleviate stiffness and discomfort associated with hip arthritis.
